Voltage testing detects the presence of electrical voltage in equipment or circuits. Confirming that circuits are de-energized before beginning any repair or installation work is indispensable, making them a fundamental safety tool.

The tag letter “E” is used for voltage measurement tests. A stimulus is not required when measuring a voltage.
