What is the difference between continuity, insulation resistance, and isolation testing?

Continuity verifies an intended electrical connection between two points. Insulation resistance applies high voltage to verify separate circuits remain isolated and detect unintended connections. Isolation verifies that an individual point, often a spare pin, is isolated from every other point in the switching system.
